And If

And if

In vain indolence

This Princeling

Believes his ill-gotten Crown

And if

This Nave

Finds fleeting comfort snuggling

In a stolen robe

And if

After  uninvited Challenge

And Effort, and Stretch, and all…

It all comes to nought - Except

That We Stood - Together

Gentle and honest

Loving and true

What frustrated Gain

Is truly lost…

Anyway?
